    2024

We are thrilled to share that we are starting our family through adoption. Adoption has been a calling for both of us even before we began our relationship, and now that we’re married, we are excited to be on this journey together.

After exploring international adoption and facing many closed doors, we have shifted our focus to domestic adoption. We are currently a waiting family with our agency’s domestic adoption program and eagerly anticipate the day we meet our little one!

Adoption is a journey that involves the love and support of family, friends, and our amazing community. We are incredibly thankful to be surrounded by such a caring and supportive community that values the beauty of adoption.

  • Joey & Mari Lucero

    2023

Hey there! We are the Lucero family, Joey, Mari, and Jacob. We are from Aiken, SC. We love our family, our church, being active, and being outdoors.

The Lord laid adoption on our hearts after battling secondary infertility for years. We had our son, Jacob, 6 years ago and have been struggling with infertility ever since. Over the years, we’ve struggled to conceive, struggled with miscarriages, and even lost our daughter, Olivia, in a stillbirth. We’ve seen doctors and specialists and have gone through various tests and procedures, all with no success and no answers. But even during these trials, we knew God was going to allow us to grow our family, but maybe not the way we originally planned.

We’ve felt The Lord calling us to adopt and we are ready to answer His calling. We began our adoption journey in September 2022 by signing up with an agency and we became home study approved in December 2022. We’re ready to stand in the gap and provide a loving, Christ-centered home for a child. We now see that this was God’s plan all along, for us to grow our family through the gift of adoption! We pray we’ll be matched with a child by the end of the year, but it’s all in God’s timing and we trust His plan.

  • Scott & Kendre Burnett

    2023

Scott and Kendre met in 2015 right after Scott moved to North Augusta. We instantly hit it off and almost immediately started dating. We traveled the world and loved being active together. Scott started attending Crossfit classes and at Kendre's request dragged her along with him until we both fell in love with the sport and community. In 2017 we got married, and in 2019 had our first child, Brayden, with no complications. After Brayden turned one, we were ready to add to our family, but unfortunately had a miscarriage at 15 weeks and then another at 9 weeks. It was a really hard time for our family, but in the midst of not knowing if we could have any more biological children we were feeling the nudge to adopt whatever the outcome. One night putting Brayden to bed, Kendre was silently praying and said yes to adoption. Brayden sat up in his sleep, said thank you God, and laid back down. That is when we knew that we were called to adopt. We went on to have a successful pregnancy with our daughter, Emma, who rode along for Kendre's back surgery at 15 weeks pregnant.

Our life as a family of four has been an adventure and we are excited to grow once again, this time through adoption. One piece of advice we’ve received from friends who have adopted is that they wish they had started the fundraising process earlier. Last year, Scott competed in Lifting for Love, and this year, we are blessed to be a part of it again as one of the families. We are blessed to have loving and supporting friends and family and are so thankful for everyone who is supporting and praying for us on this adoption journey.

  • Zach & Paige Herron

    2022

As most of you know, in July 2022 we began our adoption journey. For the next several months we were blessed with the help many of you provided in raising the funds needed. Nightly, we prayed, "God please grow our family however you have planned for us.” We put our name in over 20 cases.

Then this past March, we were overwhelmed with excitement to learn we were pregnant. Natalie Raye Herron, our baby girl, is due November 20, 2023.

Then.... last week we found out we were finally matched with a family through our adoption agency. We received the exciting news that we will be welcoming another baby into our family through adoption. Birth mom is due on January 7, 2024. We are excited to find out the gender and meet the birth family in a few weeks.

As the past few years have held so much grief and longing, we are overjoying with how the Lord has blessed us in abundance. We are excited to share more as our journey unfolds. We ask for you to continue praying with us for the health of these two babies we cannot wait to meet. Two babies on the way, pregnant and matched.
